'Millennium' is proving to be one of the best ornamental onions we've grown. Allium 'Millennium', from onion-ophile Mark McDonough, is one of the best flowering onions we've ever grown and is thriving in the heat of our Scree Garden.  In late June to late July here, it puts up 12" stalks topped with 2" pinkish-purple flower heads which are spectacularly showy. These will also keep up to a week as a cut flower and work in a combination pot as well. The flowering period lasts for well over a month. It grows in full sun to part shade with a well drained soil. Rabbits and deer avoid this plant like the plague and as an added bonus it does not seed around like some other ornamental onions.
